Challenge
Music is often called a universal language, yet millions of Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals are excluded from experiencing it meaningfully. Existing streaming platforms rely heavily on audio, offering little beyond captions and leaving behind the emotion, rhythm, and cultural essence of music. In India, this gap is further widened by the lack of solutions built around Indian Sign Language (ISL).
Solution
I designed ECHO, an inclusive music platform that transforms songs into immersive visual experiences through Indian Sign Language (ISL) animations, synchronized lyrics, and accessibility-first interactions. By combining music, motion, and sign language, ECHO enables Deaf users to experience the emotion and storytelling behind every song while fostering a community built around shared musical experiences.
